Paperback Writer: Paul McCartney to sign copies of new children’s book in London next month

Random House Books for Young Readers

Paul McCartney is used to appearing in public to perform songs, but on September 6, he’ll be in front of crowds signing his new children’s book.

Paul will appear at the Piccadilly branch of the Waterstones book store in London to autograph copies of Hey Grandude!, his new book about a super-cool grandfather who, thanks to his magic compass, is able to take his grandchildren on a “whirlwind magical mystery tour.”

Grandude “whisks his four grandkids off on…adventures, taking them all around the globe,” according to a description. Those adventures include riding flying fish, dodging stampedes and escaping avalanches.

The book’s illustrator Kathryn Durst will appear at the signing with the former Beatle.

Tickets for the signing go on sale on Monday, August 12, at 10 a.m. local time, and each ticket includes entry for one adult and up to two children or grandchildren. There are only a limited number of tickets and they cost about 17 bucks, including a copy of the book.

The bad news is that organizers are expecting you to leave your phone in a bag drop — so no selfies with Sir Paul, unfortunately.

In other Paul news, he marked Wednesday’s 50th anniversary of the photo shoot for the cover of the Beatles album Abbey Road by posting an outtake taken by his late wife, Linda McCartney.
