Craft RecordingsCreedence Clearwater Revival‘s chart-topping 1970 album Cosmo’s Factory was released 50 years ago this July, and in honor of the milestone anniversary, the record will be reissued as a standalone 180-gram vinyl LP on August 14.
The disc was remastered at London’s famed Abbey Road Studios at half-speed, which results in higher-quality audio. The LP will come housed in a tip-on jacket replicating the album’s original packaging.
Cosmo’s Factory was CCR’s most successful studio album, spending nine consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200 and selling more than four million copies in the U.S. It yielded three two-sided top-five singles: “Travelin’ Band” backed with “Who’ll Stop the Rain,” “Up Around the Bend” backed with “Run Through the Jungle,” and “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” backed with “Long as I Can See the Light.”
The record also includes an epic, 11-minute version of the Motown classic “I Heard It Through the Grapevine.”
In conjunction with the Cosmo’s Factory reissue, a new official video for “Long as I Can See the Light” is being created that will premiere in time for Father’s Day, June 21. Fans are being asked to contribute to the clip by submitting photos and videos that show precious memories of/with their fathers, grandfathers and other important mentors. Submissions will be accepted until this Monday, June 1, at 3 p.m. ET. Visit LongAsICanSeeTheLight.com for more details.
You can order the remastered Cosmo’s Factory LP now. The Craft Recordings label’s online store is offering exclusive bundles, while a limited-edition blue-vinyl version of the album will be available for pre-order starting in early June.
