Beatles Backbeat
Get your Fab Four at Four Saturday afternoons with Beatles Backbeat! It’s a fun-filled hour hosted by Gary Shipe. You’ll hear all of your favorite Fab Four songs, Beatles history & trivia, and Beatles Backbeat features those back-burner Beatles songs that never seem to get played on the radio. When is the last time (or the first time) that you heard “My Bonnie”, “The Hippy Hippy Shake”, or a live Beatles song on the radio? Beatles Backbeat. Saturdays 4:00-5:00 PM.
Got a Fab Four Fave you want to hear, send us a request!
Meet your Beatles Backbeat host, Gary Shipe
Seattle born and raised, I started my radio career as a college intern and have spent my professional and personal life surrounded by music. The first album I ever owned was “Rubber Soul” (birthday gift from my big brother, thanks Dave) and the first album I spent my own money on was “The Beatles Second Album.” Having worked at KIXI for the past several years as the Public Affairs Director, adding my love of the Beatles is putting the cherry on the top! Now with Beatles Backbeat I get to share what has been a life long passion of mine to the KIXI faithful. It’s a perfect fit because if there’s one thing Beatles fans know, “Beatles music is as cool now as it was then!”
Here is a link to the recent show that featured Seattle’s best Beatles tribute Band Creme Tangerine. They played guest DJ. Keyboardist Chuck Dorsett posted this video (without the music…copyrights you know) on their youtube page.
Here is the interview I did with Mark Lewisohn the author of Tune In, The Beatles All These Years, Volume 1.
Check out the fun video of Creme Tangerine picking their favorite songs from the White Album.
